While discussing health and well being we only talk about and focus on physical health and appearance, while our body reacts to the way our mind works and how we think of ourselves. Mental health refers to behavioral and emotional well being; it’s all about how a person thinks feels and behaves. A person suffering from mental health issues doesn’t mean has a mental disorder but he might have anxiety, panic attacks, or depression.
Mental health is the most important health factor in one’s body which is so underrated that we often ignore it. Disturbed mental health will lead to disruption in our relationships, physical health, and daily activities.
There are a bunch of things to do for keeping mental health sane and secure, here is the list:
1. Listen to Positive
What you feed is what your body is made of is a well-known ideology but similar is the case for mental health; whatever you fill your mind with is how it reacts to it. Listening to news channels all day or paying more attention to the negatives happening around will increase the negative thoughts. Instead, listening to spiritual talks, Ted Talks, or anything of the comedy genre helps our mind to ignore the negatives and see the positive in every situation.
2. Having a Routine
When your day is scheduled and tasks are pre-decided, it’ll hardly give you any time for your mind to divert into that space. The focus on your work will not only bring you some positive energy but also shower success in your work. Better eating habits on time will not just energize your physical health but also your mental health.
3. Having a Hobby
Sometimes it's very difficult to escape from your current scenario that is full of stress and depression, having a hobby will help you that state for a while and bring you peace from within. Be it watching movies, playing with your furry friends, painting, dancing, singing, cooking, etc. It might be the basic thing but will help you unwind and release the stress.
4. Praying
It might sound silly, how can praying help in having positive mental health? It does!! Although it may take time to see the results and understand its positive effects it's magic that works wonders. When you pray with your heart, it’ll give you the power to deal with the toughest of situations and calm your mind.
5. Maintain a Journal
Times are tough but we’re tougher than our circumstances, believing in this quote is the best thing I’ve ever done. There are often when we hesitate to share our thoughts with anyone around us, while it's OK to feel a certain way it's also important to let those feelings out in some way. Journaling is one such way that writing our thoughts of the day and confiding in a book lets us vent out yet keep our privacy intact. A gratitude journal is even more helpful as you mention your gratefulness to God for positive things that happened throughout the day, as you go to sleep and wind up your day on a positive note.
6. Talking to your loved ones
The best way to get rid of that stress and anxiety is to share everything that you feel with a loved one. It's not just a stress reliever but the family fosters with love and care and sharing strengthens the bond.
7. Take a stroll in nature
Change your surroundings to change the thoughts in your mind. This quote is true as ever and has such a great impact on how we feel at times of stress. Taking a stroll in nature, going for long drives, visiting a spiritual place, a friend’s house, or anywhere you get peace of mind can make you exhilarated.
8. Seek Professional Help
A person’s mental health is affected by a lot of factors, it may get better with the help of the above-mentioned steps or maybe a little more severe than that and need professional help of a Mental Health Counselor. People tend to avoid doing so usually due to fear and societal norms but it is absolutely fine to seek professional help at such times, just like the sickness of your body needs a doctor. Visiting a mental health counselor is similarly important for mental well being.
With the above ways, you can be absolutely fine and mentally healthy and lead a blissful life. We live in our heads and that's what we need to nurture the most, our bodies may not be physically perfect but our minds can be. As we work hugely on our physical appearance to look appealing, similarly we need to work majorly on how our mental state is. Feeding the right thoughts, positive energy and a well-nurtured mind can cope with any given scenario.

Perfect!
