We all have 24 hours in hand every single day and a zillion things in mind to accomplish; managing your time to make the most of your potential will definitely increase your productivity but at times it can get to your mind and lower your energy. Achieving targets has become our ultimate goal in life, isn’t it?

From academics to job hunt, stressing about promotion or managing your own business, life is sometimes too difficult to deal with, it’ll throw you in splits with a lot of external factors or people cracking you up, affecting your mood in the end.

For such situations I’ve listed a few things based on personal experiences that can boost up your mood and make you feel instantly better. It might sound a bit crazy, how doing something for 10-15 minutes will change your mood? But trust me, it’s said, “Change your motion to change your emotion”, sums up the whole thing in a sentence.

After all, your productivity is not only driven by your physical health but mental health makes a lot of difference for sure. Here are amazing things that you can try out when feeling low:

1. Hot shower

There are a lot of benefits of taking a hot shower bath like it lowers the blood pressure levels, helps to fall asleep faster, relieves muscle tension, reduces stress, gives smooth skin leaving it moisturized, etc. It’s like the water flowing down your body washes away all your worries and when your body feels fresh, your mind automatically sets in the best mood. It awakens your body and relaxes your muscles. Using a shower gel, bath salt or a little skincare that is mildly fragrant will add to it.

2. Coffee

Take a short break from your never ending busy schedule to have a cup of coffee and chill for a while. Caffeine is said to have cognitive perks like increased alertness, accelerates your heart rate, and stimulates your bowels, and so on. It is said to stimulate the dopamine hormone, which is responsible for feeling good emotionally. Even though it comes with quite a few benefits, a proper amount of intake is advised, as higher proportions may lead to degradation of sleep quality.

3. A walk

Moving around and changing your surroundings will help a lot, get your shoes on and go straight for a walk in the park, in your lobby or may be on terrace. Look around and stare at the birds, setting sun, plants dancing in the wind, or any random thing. It’ll divert your mind and relax you a bit.

4. Stretching

Stretching or exercising when you’re feeling low seems the boring thing ever but I can’t stress enough how impactful it is to lift your mood up and making your body more energized. It also feels good because it activates your parasympathetic nervous system and increases the blood flow to your muscles. It releases the endorphins which are responsible to reduce the pain and stress in our body, making us feel happier than before. Deep breathing included in this will help on focusing better.

5. Having your favourite meal

Serotonin, a chemical present in the brain is responsible for your happiness and how you feel good. When you consume high protein foods, it naturally boosts serotonin levels in your body making you feel happier. Not getting too technical, food is sometimes the ultimate mood up lifter and most of you all will agree to this.

6. Watching comedy content

Your brain reacts in alignment with your senses, specifically eyes. What you see is how you feel. The kind of content you watch or has happened to you throughout the day is mostly you have dreams about. Similarly, if you watch comedy content then you’ll have a good laughter which will boost your mood.

7. Pen down your gratitude list

Now, sometimes it may get stressful or even lead to worst breakdowns which are completely normal. You may feel the world is falling apart and all the negative thoughts surround you, one after the other. These are just phases in everyone’s lives and it is the time to count on your blessings. It may sound stupid at first but trust the process. When you are at your lowest, penning down the list of things that you’re grateful for will work like a therapy. It may be the most basic things like a good meal, having clean drinking water, or a roof on top, your family, your health being fine, or any little things. A sense of gratification and acceptance is the solution to all your problems.

These tips might seem too basic but work amazingly and are instant mood pickers, the next time you feel agitated or depressed test these out and thank me later by sharing and clapping.
